DC Tuensang notifies on Governor's Award
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, has notified departments regarding recommendations for the Governor's Award for Distinction in Art, Music, and Literature from the Tuensang district. In this regard, departments have been requested to submit the list of deserving persons along with the applicant's biodata/profile, reasons for the selection, and supporting documents to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner at the earliest.
Pungro farmers receive agriculture machinery
DIMAPUR — The distribution of agricultural farm machinery under the Sub-Mission on Agriculture Mechanisation under Component 8 and Flexi during 2025-26 was carried out by the office of the Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer at the Demonstration Farm in Pungro on Wednesday. According to a DIPR report, the programme was attended by Extra Assistant Commissioner of Pungro, H Aloto Shohe, who handed over the machinery to eligible beneficiaries from both Khongsa and Pungro blocks. Machinery distributed included power tillers (9 HP and 7 HP), brush cutter-cum-harvesters (2.1 HP and 1.5 HP), rice-cum-flour mills, water pumps, and paddy threshers.
Longjang farmers receive black pepper vines
DIMAPUR — The Khutak Valley Organic Producer Company (KVOPC) distributed 30,000 black pepper vines to farmers of Longjang village on May 7 and 8. According to a DIPR report, the black pepper vines were donated by TN Mannen, MLA and Advisor for Law and Justice and Land Revenue. The initiative seeks to encourage farmers to adopt black pepper cultivation as an additional source of income alongside areca nut farming.
IRCS Chümoukedima convenes meeting
DIMAPUR — The Chümoukedima district unit of the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) has convened its annual general meeting on May 20 at the conference hall of the deputy commissioner’s office at 1 pm. The meeting has been convened to discuss certain issues pertaining to the district branch. It has requested all the active members, including life members, patrons and vice patrons, to attend the meeting.
NSCN/GPRN (Niki) terminates member from active service
DIMAPUR — The NSCN/GPRN (Niki) has terminated Achumu A Pfithu, Tatar, from active national service for violating the provisions of the Yehzabo. According to an update, the termination was made on the recommendation received from the office of the Ministry of Kilo Affairs and after considering the report of the fact-finding committee. Achumu A Pfithu, son of L Achipa, hails from Hutsu village in the Tisary region, it said. The termination order issued from the office of the Ato Kilonser stated that the termination of Achumu A Pfithu comes into force with immediate effect.
GPRN/NSCN terminates two officials
DIMAPUR — The Ministry of Kilo Affairs of the GPRN/NSCN has issued a termination order to Leacy Jangminium Singson and Leacy Sehkam Sitlhou for breaching the basic foundation of the Naga National Yehzabo. The termination is effective from April 21. A press release from the Ministry of Information and Publicity stated that any activities of the aforementioned individuals shall in no way reflect the image of the party or the GPRN/NSCN at Khehoyi Designated Camp.
Norman Putsure College students learn about poultry farming
DIMAPUR — The BA sixth-semester students of Norman Putsure College participated in a skill class on poultry farming held at Kikru Agro Farm in Chümoukedima. According to an update, during the programme, students received both theoretical and practical training from Richard, who shared insights on the proper care and management of various poultry breeds, including broilers, kuroilers, layers, aseel breeds, ducks such as pekin and magpie, and turkeys. He also explained important aspects such as vaccination schedules, temperature requirements, feeding methods, and the brooding process. As part of the hands-on learning experience, a few students were given a chick to raise and apply the knowledge gained during the skills class.
