Kiutsangkhiung-led UGN (PB) merges with GPRN/NSCN (U)
DIMAPUR — The UGN/NNC (PB) led by President Kiutsangkhiung has merged with the GPRN/NSCN (U) to uphold the “Nagas’ rights of freedom and for the early resolution of the Naga issue.” This was resolved during an emergency meeting of the UGN/NNC (PB) convened by Kiutsangkhiung on August 27, the group stated in a press release. During the meeting, the house also “allegedly found” that Akaho, Vice President of the UGN, and Nupavi, interim Ato Kilonser, had “deliberately violated the government's code of conduct through unconstitutional practices.” In order to preserve and protect the government’s Yezabo, the house unanimously impeached Akaho and Nupavi with immediate effect, the release added.
Test charge for Zunheboto-Wokha transmission line
DIMAPUR — The Executive Engineer, Transmission Division, Mokokchung, has informed that the 132/33kV Zunheboto (Lizu) Substation and 132 kV Zunheboto (Lizu)-Wokha (Philimi) transmission line will be test charged under the North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project starting August 29, and will remain idle charged. According to a DIPR report, the affected villages and towns include Lizu New village, Philimi, Rotomi, Akuhaito and Litsami. Public have been informed not to touch the said transmission line nor go near the same for safety purposes. “Anybody doing so shall be doing at their own risk and the department shall not be held responsible for any untoward incident whatsoever,” it stated. Further, public have been requested to extend cooperation for smooth conduct of the exercise.

NHDICL conducts free eye check-up camp
DIMAPUR — To celebrate its 11th Inception Day, the National Highway and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHDICL) organised a free eye check-up camp at the toll plaza on NH-29 in Kukidolong on Thursday, through its RO-Kohima and PMU-Dimapur. Dr. Keneibeiu Rupreo and Dr. Asier Rutsa provided expert guidance by conducting vision testing and screening ensuring every individual received proper care and attention, a DIPR report stated. A total of 250 people from Medziphema availed the free eye camp and free eye drops. The NHIDCL also distributed 200 pieces of free glass frames.
Ban on pig slaughter in Merapani
DIMAPUR — Based on reports of pig deaths received from the village council chairman of Merapani (Marachu Yan) and the Office of the Assistant Veterinary Surgeon, Merapani, Additional Deputy Commissioner Longasen Lotha of Bhandari has banned the slaughter, import, export, and transport of live pigs and pork from the Merapani area until further notice. Meanwhile, confirming the outbreak of disease amongst the swine population in Merapani village, Dr. Kikali G Sumi, Veterinary Assistant Surgeon, Quarantine Check Post, Merapani, sensitised the public to observe and take note of signs and symptoms, including reddening of skin, abdomen, legs, and ears, accompanied by fever, loss of appetite, weakness, vomiting, diarrhoea, and abortion in pregnant sows, noting that most deaths occur within ten days.
ATKK clarifies on ‘NSCN (IM) Martyrs Park’
DIMAPUR — In connection with the Pimla murder case, the Aqahuto Tokukujo Kukami Kuqhakulu (ATKK) has clarified to a news report carried in a local daily (August 26 issue) that mentioned “NSCN (IM) Martyrs Park at Pimla village on April 7.” “We the Aqahuto Tokukujo Kukami Kuqhakulu, would like to clarify that no such place exist within the village or anywhere under Aqahuto area. After due enquiry and verification, it has been found that the named location is nonexistent and is misleading,” the ATKK stated in a press release. The ATKK also urged general public, investigation agencies, authorities and media to verify “such information in future” to “prevent any confusion, misinterpretation or reputational harm to the village of areas under Aqahuto.”
Minister John condoles demise on NDPP member
DIMAPUR — Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, CL John, has condoled the demise of Chingkai Konyak, general secretary of NDPP 45 Tehok Assembly Constituency and VDB secretary of Chingkao Chingnyu village, who passed away in Guwahati on August 27. John stated that Chingkai was known for his sincerity, hard work, integrity and wisdom. John stated that he had the privilege of working with him since 2004 and together shared both challenges and triumphs. He added that his unwavering commitment and voluntary services to the NDPP, community and individuals would always be remembered. He further conveyed condolences to the bereaved family members and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
ADC Pfutsero inspects damaged bridge
DIMAPUR — The Phek district administration led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pfutsero, Mhalo Humtsoe, along with police, CSOs and village authorities on Thursday conducted an inspection of the damaged minor bridge at Chainage 38+165 North Kikruma and the restoration of an alternative road for traffic. This was informed in an official bulletin issued by DIPR.
