Newman Higher Secondary School Tobu launched its golden jubilee year with a symbolic inaugural ceremony on Tuesday.

DIMAPUR — Newman Higher Secondary School, Tobu, officially ushered in its golden jubilee year with an inaugural ceremony held on Tuesday.
According to an update from the school, the ceremony was presided over by Rev. Fr. Kevishi Solomon, the principal, in the presence of the school management, faculty, and students.
The ceremony was marked by symbolic and spiritual gestures such as the lighting of the jubilee candle and the reading of the scripture. The school paid tribute to its pioneers, benefactors, former teachers, and students who are no longer with them and prayed for the solace of their souls.
The school is set to celebrate its 50th anniversary on January 8, 2026. The update mentioned that though administered by the Diocese of Kohima, Newman Higher Secondary School has become deeply woven into the social and cultural fabric of the Tobu area.

It said that over the decades, it has shaped the lives of thousands. Situated in one of Nagaland’s most remote corners, the institution has withstood not only the challenges of geographic isolation and limited infrastructure but also the tribulations of socio-political unrest.
Also, in preparation for the grand celebration, a coordination meeting was convened on August 4, bringing together leaders from the Tobu area. The purpose was to deliberate on the preparatory roadmap and to invoke the blessings and goodwill of the local populace.
The leadership of Tobu Sub-Division has reaffirmed its commitment to extend wholehearted cooperation to ensure the jubilee is a resounding success. Meanwhile, the management of Newman Higher Secondary School appealed for continued moral support and prayerful encouragement from the people of Tobu-Moka so that the celebration may be not only memorable but also a moment of shared pride and gratitude.
During the programme, the principal emphasised that the jubilee is a time for reconciliation. He urged both teachers and students to forgive past grievances, erase ill feelings, and embrace the spirit of the Jubilee by seeking blessings during this momentous celebration.
