Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio mourns the passing of Dr. Joyce Zinyü Angami, recalling her dedicated service to marginalised communities and her fight against stigma.

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday expressed grief at the demise of Dr. Joyce Zinyü Angami, former president of Nagaland State Medical Council and Director of Kripa Foundation, who passed away on December 11 following a brief illness.
In a condolence message, Rio described Dr. Joyce as a “sincere and compassionate medical doctor” who dedicated her life to serving the people, particularly those from marginalised communities.

He recalled that she had worked tirelessly for individuals living with HIV and AIDS, spoke out against stigma, and advocated for community engagement to remove discriminatory attitudes and superstitious beliefs.
“She was a true daughter of the soil, upholding values and truth wherever she worked,” the chief minister said. He urged the public to honour her memory by celebrating her life and acknowledging her selfless contributions to society.
The chief minister, on behalf of his family, conveyed condolences to the bereaved.
