Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio chairs third task force meeting to finalise roadmap for transforming Northeast into global handloom hub.

DIMAPUR — Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday convened the third meeting of the High-Level Task Force on Handloom and Handicrafts in the North Eastern Region to deliberate on the final draft report prepared for the sector.
In a post on X, the chief minister wrote that the task force has made steady progress since its first meeting held in July, followed by a productive second session in September.
The discussions at the latest meeting focused on refining the report and charting a clear roadmap for the future development of handlooms and handicrafts in the region.
Rio underscored the shared vision of transforming the Northeast into a globally recognised hub for handlooms and handicrafts that is sustainable, culturally vibrant and economically empowering.

Highlighting the importance of strategic planning, he said that the initiative aims to create sustainable livelihoods while celebrating the region’s rich cultural heritage.
He also expressed appreciation to the members of the task force for their valuable inputs and voiced optimism about achieving tangible outcomes through collective efforts.
