DIMAPUR — The 25 Naga battalion NCC, Mokokchung, under NCC Team Kohima, successfully scaled the summit of Mount Saramati, the highest peak in Nagaland, in Kiphire district on March 19.
An update from the battalion stated that a total of 2 officers, 3 non commissioned officers, 4 associate NCC officers and 38 cadets reached the highest point of the mountain, a journey defined by extreme physical endurance and technical skill.
It stated that the expedition, which began on March 19 at 0200h from Base Camp, faced significant challenges including inclement weather, narrow weather window and record-breaking snowfall. Despite those obstacles, the team utilised a traditional siege-style approach to navigate the southern route to the peak.

“This summit is a testament to the incredible synergy and resilience of our Team Kohima beyond the physical feat of reaching the top. We are proud of how we managed the risks and maintained our commitment to ‘leave no trace’ principles throughout the ascent. Standing on the summit of Mount Saramati was a humbling moment for all of us,” report stated quoting the cadets.

It mentioned that the expedition was supported by NER NCC Directorate and NCC Group HQ Kohima, Nagaland. The team is currently at the Base camp ahead of Thanamir village for recovery.
