DIMAPUR — As part of the ongoing celebrations of the 75th anniversary of the National Sample Survey (NSS), the regional office of the National Statistics Office (Field Operations Division), Kohima, organised a quiz competition (Anvesha 2.0) on July 18 in the conference hall of the Directorate of Economics and Statistics in Kohima.


In the inaugural session, Akunu S Meyase, Secretary, Economics and Statistics Department, was the chief guest who highlighted the importance of statistics in nation-building, according to an update.


She also spoke about promoting awareness among the public on different surveys and seeking their cooperation.


Neisatuo Puro, Additional Director, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, and Erenbi Jami, ISS, Director and Head of Department (HoD), National Statistics Office (FOD), RO Kohima, also spoke on the occasion.

This quiz competition was organised across the country to enhance awareness and understanding of official statistics and the Indian economy and their role in evidence-based policymaking and national development.


Altogether, 15 teams comprising two participants each, representing 10 colleges and one university from Kohima town, participated. The quiz, conducted by quiz master Weto Losou, vice principal, Baptist High, was held in two rounds: written and oral.


The team from Kohima College won the first prize (INR 10,000) along with a trophy. The second prize was won by Alder College (INR 6,000), and the third prize went to the Nagaland University (INR 4,000) team.
