DIMAPUR — The National People's Youth Front (NPYF) Dimapur District has expressed deep concern over compliance requirements contained in a circular issued by the Directorate of School Education directing schools to observe the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21.
The NPYF Dimapur District stated that participation in any programme involving faith must remain voluntary.
Citing Article 371(A), the NPYF Dimapur District maintained that no student, teacher, parent, or institution should face direct or indirect pressure to participate in activities that conflict with their beliefs.
It urged the authorities to immediately review and withdraw any directive making yoga participation compulsory, suggesting alternatives like sports, athletics, and physical education.
