DIMAPUR — Facing mounting opposition from student bodies, church organisations and civil society groups over the proposed observance of International Day of Yoga on a Sunday, Nagaland government on Thursday postponed the programme in educational institutions by a day, shifting it from June 21 to June 22.
The decision came through an order issued by the School Education department directing the Directorate of School Education to defer the observance in view of June 21 falling on a Sunday.
Following the government's directive, the Directorate of School Education issued a fresh circular to all district education officers and sub-divisional education officers, modifying its earlier instructions and directing educational institutions to observe the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 22 instead.
