NHSRC applauds nagaland's communisation programme

  • DIMAPUR — A team of officials from National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC) has lauded the communitisation programme introduced by Nagaland government for the development of rural areas.

  • Communitisation in Nagaland is a process where the government delegates responsibility and authority for public services and institutions to the community.

  • The team made this remarks during a visit to Khonoma and Rusoma villages under Kohima district after interacting with the leaders on Tuesday.

  • The team was led by NHSRC executive director, Maj. Gen. (Prof) Atul Kotwal, along with other officials including Dr. Ajay Kumar Arya, consultant of QPS; Dr. Devajit Bora, senior consultant of CP-CPHC; and Bhaswat Das, senior consultant of HCT.

  • An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Kohima, stated that the purpose of visit was to see and understand the communitisation process. It stated that the officials interacted with members of village council, HCMC/ JAS, community leaders, women group, ASHA and AWW.

  • During interaction, Maj. Gen. (Prof) Atul Kotwal appreciated the community participation, which is the most important quality in the communitisation process. The team also visited Khonoma Primary Health Centre (PHC) and interacted with PHC staff.

  • Later, NHSRC team along state officials from the directorate of Health and Family Welfare visited Rusoma Health and Wellness Centre (HWC) and held interaction with Goan buras, village chairman, elders, women group, HWC staff and ASHA.

  • The team has appreciated the community participation, which is a key tool of communitisation, and to see a well maintained health unit.

  • The team also visited Nagaland Institute of Medical Science & Research (NIMSR), where presentation on status performance of NIMSR/way forward were highlighted by NIMSR team.

  • Report stated that NHSRC and state officials held a meeting with the secretary of Health and Family Welfare, principal director, NHM mission director and other senior health officials.

  • The state health team was led by Dr. Vezokholu Theyo, additional director; Dr. Arenla Walling, additional director (dental); Dr. Alemwapang Aier, joint director; Dr. Ruokuohelie Rutsa, deputy director; Dr. Manyau Phom, deputy director (NHM); Dr. Kheshika Yepthomi, deputy director (NHM); Imsujungla Yaden, senior programme manager (IEC-NHM); Diti Mero, FWA; and Kevisato, photographer.

  • The district team was led by Dr. Leamnyei Konyak, CMO of Kohima; Dr. Imchatoshi, deputy CMO; Dr. Imna Longchar, DQAM; Rokoseno Thapo, DCM; and Kungcham, DMC.
