  • Social work for monsoon prep held in Chümoukedima, Medziphema

  • Citizens participating in mass social work at Medziphema on May 17.

  • DIMAPUR — Through the initiative of the district administration, a mass social work event was organised in Chümoukedima district on May 17 as a pre-monsoon preparedness measure ahead of the monsoon season.

  • The aim of the mass social work was to foster a sense of unity and responsibility among citizens towards a cleaner and healthier Chümoukedima and to promote cleanliness and community engagement for a clean and welcoming environment, according to a DIPR report.

  • It focused on unclogging drainage, clearing construction material and debris, removing foliage, waste disposal, and cleaning and maintaining public spaces and utilities.

  • During the mass social work, all shops and business establishments remained closed from 6 am to 12 noon. All heads of offices and institutions under Chümoukedima cleaned their office or institution premises and surrounding areas.

  • A team consisting of EAC Seithekema, Chümoukedima Town Council, Public Works Department (National Highway), Public Works Department (Road and Bridges), Water Resources Department, Public Health Engineering Department, Fire and Emergency Service, and 1st NAP Battalion, along with respective village councils, cleaned the stretch of NH-29 from 3rd Mile Airport culvert to Chathe Bridge (Patkai Bridge), focusing on drainage and debris removal along road dividers and paved shoulders. Participation of business establishments was made mandatory.

  • Village councils and colony GBs supervised the cleanliness drive, urging all citizens of the district to clean their houses, neighbourhoods, drainage, and roads.

  • Additionally, all shopkeepers adjacent to public roads participated in cleaning the drainage and roads in their areas.

  • The Chümoukedima Town Council, Medzhiphema Town Council, and various village councils were in charge of garbage and debris disposal in their respective jurisdictions. The Chümoukedima Traffic Control ensured traffic management along NH-29.

  • The Medziphema sub-division under Chümoukedima also conducted a mass social work on May 17 in connection with the onset of the monsoon season and as a pre-monsoon preparation.

  • During the mass social work, all government offices, institutions, and the public actively participated in cleaning the town and villages, focusing on unclogging drainage, clearing debris, cleaning the NH-29 divider, removing foliage, and waste disposal.

  • The Medziphema Town Council and various village councils provided assistance in clearing garbage and carried out the mass social work.
