NABARD inaugurates TRIBES project in sanphure

  • DIMAPUR — A National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) supported project ‘Tribal Resilience Initiative for Building Environmentally Sustainable Livelihood (TRIBES)’ was inaugurated in Sanphure village under Kiphire district by P Bulte, general manager of NABARD, Nagaland regional office, on May 21.

  • In the inaugural address, Bulte provided a comprehensive overview of the project’s norms, implementation process and long-term objectives. He has set clear direction for the project's execution.

  • The project would be implemented through partner agency North East Initiative Development Agency (NEIDA) in Sanphure, Tutheze, Pongren and Tsongpong villages under Longmatra block of Kiphire district.

  • Tiarenba Imsong, NEIDA programme officer, gave a brief overview of the project.

  • An update from NEIDA stated that the event marked a significant step towards sustainable agricultural development and livelihood improvement for farmers in the region.

  • The deputy commissioner of Kiphire, Temsuwati Longkumer, who attended the event as the special guest, has emphasised the importance of agricultural progress and farmer empowerment.

  • Sentinungba, district horticulture officer of Kiphire, encouraged farmers to take full advantage of the project. He emphasised on the potential for value addition and future opportunities in crop processing and agri-business and encouraged farmers to reach out to the department in times of need for advice and material inputs.

  • A representative from Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kiphire, spoke on the relevance of technology-driven cultivation methods. The representative also assured to addresse farmers' queries and discussed the scope for technological advancement in the region’s agricultural practices.

  • The programme concluded with a collective commitment to drive agricultural transformation through community effort and institutional support.

  • The programme was attended by Dr. Imsunaro, AGM of NABARD, Imkongyanger Imchen, DDM, department officials, representatives from banks, NEIDA and SHG, village council leaders and farmers.
