- DIMAPUR — A debut
book of Manong Wangshu, assistant professor of English at Modern College,
titled ‘Meraki’ and published by Woods Publishers was launched at the college’s
conference hall on Friday.
- The book was officially released by Dr. Vitsou Yano,
principal of Modern College, who expressed pride in the creative achievements
of the academic community and encouraged the audience to push beyond their
limits, be creative and take bold steps toward doing something new and
meaningful.

- She stated that publishing a book gives credibility to the
author, recognising their dedication and effort. She added that a book not only
reflects the writer’s voice but also brings light and insight to the readers.
- She encouraged everyone to read more, affirming that reading
helps to grow and expand knowledge, stated an update from the college.
- A brief book review was presented by Watimongla Imchen, head
of English department, who highlighted the literary and thematic focus of the
work. She mentioned that with every line, “the poet breathes life into emotions
left unspoken, offering readers a glimpse into a heart that beats in rhythm
with its art.”
- What made the collection truly special, according to Imchen,
was the sincerity in every line. “Wangshu’s words possess a quiet strength that
lingers long after the final page,” she remarked.
- The author, Wangshu, shared insights into his writing
journey and the inspiration behind his new book ‘Meraki.’ He stated that the
book was woven from his experiences, solitude, dreams and perception of society.
- He described poetry as “a mirror of the soul” and shared
that the collection explored themes of love, hope, faith, nature and the
shifting landscapes of the human experience.
- “This book is a part of my quiet world, once private—today,
I open it to the readers,” he concluded.
- Rüülhouü Khawakhrie of BA 2nd semester recited a poem from
the newly released book.
