Nagaland’s Kekhriesilie Rio won a Grand Prix class at Haras de Liverdy in France, marking a major international achievement in show jumping.

KOHIMA — Kekhriesilie Rio has secured a major international achievement by winning a Grand Prix class at Haras de Liverdy in France in a show jumping competition.
Riding Presley OL, Kekhriesilie delivered a composed round to finish atop the leaderboard.
The news was shared on social media by Abu Metha, Vice-President of Athletics Federation of India (AFI).
“Amazing news! Our youth continue to break new ground and raise the bar. Kekhriesilie Rio, hailing from Nagaland, India—riding Presley OL—wins the Grand Prix at Haras de Liverdy, France in show jumping; a remarkable international achievement,” Metha wrote.
Sharing visuals of the ride, he added that it was “a powerful reminder that with the right opportunities, our youth can scale the very highest levels.”
Congratulating the rider, he said, “Congratulations Kekhriesilie — keep jumping higher and keep making us proud.”

Kekhriesilie has previously represented India in several national and international competitions.
He secured third position in the Individual category at the Junior National Equestrian Championship (Endurance) 2014–15 in Dibrugarh, and went on to win the Junior National Equestrian Championship (Show Jumping) in Kolkata in 2018, becoming national champion.
He also competed in the FEI World Show Jumping Challenge (Category A) 2020 in Bengaluru, where he was ranked No. 2 globally and No. 1 in Asia.
In 2021, he participated in the National Equestrian Championship (Senior) in Delhi, securing a podium finish in Puissance jumping.
Additionally, he finished second in the Asian Equestrian Federation Junior/Young Jumping Challenge 2019.
