Nagaland Wrestling Association launches a state-level trial selection and high-performance training camp for National Games 2027.

DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) launched an open state-level trial selection-cum-high-performance residential training camp in preparation for the National Games 2027 at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Viswema on Thursday.
The camp was organised by the NWA in collaboration with the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, according to an update.
Tepul Hopovi, President of the Southern Angami Public Organisation (SAPO), attended the launching programme as the special guest and shared the importance of traditional values of games and sports and urged the wrestlers to focus on discipline in their pursuit.
NWA President Vivolie Kezo offered the keynote address, while NOA Asst. Secretary General Neivikuolie Khatsü delivered a short speech.
NWA Co-opted Technical Secretary Kikhwesul Thokhwe and Wrestling Head Coach, Khelo India Centre of Excellence, Virandra Kumar, took the technical briefing session.
Altogether 48 wrestlers registered for the two-month-long camp and will go for the final selection trial. Intensive training will be taken care of by professional coaches and started on Thursday.
