  • DIMAPUR —  The Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) team made their way back to the state on Monday following their historic medal-winning performance while representing India at the Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship 2025, which took place in Delhi from May 21 to the 26th.

  • According to the NWA media cell, team India clinched two silver and seven bronze medals during the championship, of which team NWA won one silver and five bronze medals. This is the first time such medals have been won by the team in an international championship.

  • The team, comprising 15 athletes, one United World Wrestling-nominated referee, one trainee referee, and seven officials, represented team India in the week-long championship.

  • The NWA extended its gratitude to the Government of Nagaland for financial and logistical support, as well as to the Directorate of Youth Resources and Sports and Dr. Keneilhouthoulie Miachio, Chief Conservator of Forest, Durg Circle.

  • The NWA also conveyed its special thanks to all wrestling lovers for their support in various forms, especially prayers and moral support, which enabled the team to earn valuable medals for the nation.
