
Naga wrestlers, along with NWA officials, display the medals
won at the Asian Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship underway in Delhi.
- DIMAPUR — Wrestlers
from Nagaland have won six medals for India so far, including one silver and
five bronze, in both classic and freestyle belt wrestling at the ongoing Asian
Belt Wrestling Alysh Championship in Delhi.
- According to the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) media
cell, the second day, which featured senior freestyle wrestling for both men
and women, saw the NWA wrestlers win medals for India in senior freestyle belt
wrestling.

- Those who won medals are Kuvenu Puro, silver medal in the
under 80 kg category (men); Venuzo Dawhuo, bronze medal in the under 100 kg
category (men); Rokuokehie Khawakhrie, bronze medal in the under 70 kg category
(men); and Lhupra Vero, bronze medal in the under 60 kg category (men).
- The team also won two bronze medals in the men’s team
championship in classic and freestyle, received by India team coaches Vekhriyi
Chuzho and Keneilel Kevin Rote. On May 23, in the classic style event, Vevokho
Ruho in the 90 kg category (men) and Haizuyile in the 65 kg category (women)
won bronze medals for team India.
- The Naga wrestlers are expected to reach Dimapur by May 26.
Meanwhile, the NWA extended its gratitude to all wrestling lovers for their
support in various forms, which contributed to the historic win of medals on
the international stage.
