
AITWPF officials alongside NWA president and state wrestlers
during the Naga wrestling demonstration session in Jaipur on Sunday.
- DIMAPUR — The
Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) wrestlers won five gold medals and one
bronze at the All India Traditional Wrestling Pankration Federation (AITWPF)
National Federation Cup 2025, which culminated on Sunday.
- According to a press statement issued by NWA joint secretary
Kuzhovesa Soho, the NWA team, led by president Vivolie Kezo, with three
wrestlers, participated in the four-day event in senior men’s belt and mas
wrestling held in Jaipur, Rajasthan, from May 1 to the 4th.
- Kezhaselu-o Pienyü won gold in both belt and mas wrestling
in the 100+ kg category, Venu Vadeo secured gold in both belt and mas wrestling
in the -90 kg category, and Nlumrai Hegwang earned gold in belt wrestling and
bronze in mas wrestling in the -80 kg category.

- It is also worth noting that all three were appointed to
officiate the wrestling matches and were awarded the Qualified National Referee
License. They will be eligible to officiate at future national championship
matches.
- Naga wrestling was also demonstrated during the final day of
the event by NWA wrestlers, alongside video displays on the giant screen. It
said that the AITWPF, while observing Naga wrestling, expressed satisfaction
with the sport and emphasised the need to promote Naga wrestling for future
national and international championships, with strong support from other state
wrestling associations.
- The NWA team is expected to arrive in Nagaland on May 5.
- NWA President Kezo conveyed its gratitude to all the
wrestling enthusiasts from Nagaland and beyond for their support in various
forms. He further sought prayers and moral support for future endeavours.
