Agricultural fields and other structures were reported to have damaged by
marauding herd of wild elephants numbering about 50 to 70 in Ruchan village
under Bhandari sub-division of Wokha on May 25.

- A delayed report claimed that wild elephants have caused
extensive damage to agricultural fields and various structures, significantly
impacting the lives and livelihoods of local residents.

- Villagers reported that the elephants not only trampled
crops but also destroyed essential structures, leaving many people living in
fear and uncertainty. The ongoing presence of those elephants has severely
disrupted daily life, particularly for those who depended on agriculture for
their survival.

- Meanwhile, villagers have sought urgent intervention from
wildlife authorities and the district administration to address the crisis.
They have urged immediate measures such as deployment of forest personnel,
installation of deterrent mechanisms and long-term conflict mitigation
strategies to mitigate human-wildlife conflict and ensure the safety of both
local populations and wildlife
