
Chumlamo Humtsoe being felicitated during the 26th varsity
cultural and literary meet 2025 of the Nagaland University Students’ Union,
Lumami (NUSU-L) on Thursday.
- DIMAPUR — The Nagaland University Students’
Union, (NUSU-L) celebrated its 26th varsity cultural and literary meet
2025 on Thursday at I Ihoshe Kinimi Hall on the theme "Mosaic of culture:
Exploring identity through culture and literature."
- The additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Mokokchung,
Chumlamo Humtsoe, who was the chief guest, spoke on the importance of culture
and identity in today’s fast-changing world and encouraged the youth to remain
rooted in their traditions while embracing progress and innovation. He
emphasised that culture is not merely a reflection of the past, but a living
evolving force that shapes ‘who we are and how we connect with each other,’ an
update from the university stated.
- Asserting that preserving one’s cultural identity and
traditional values is not only about holding on to customs and practices but
about carrying forward the essence of who they are as a people, Humtsoe urged
the students to take pride in their heritage and become ambassadors of their community’s
values and wisdom.
- According to him, the younger generation plays a vital role
in safeguarding and transmitting the cultural legacy to future generations.
