Nagaland University conducts exposure visit and input distribution for farmers of Socunoma village under ICAR-NRIIPM project.

DIMAPUR — An exposure visit-cum-inputs distribution of vegetable seeds and potato seed tubers was arranged at the School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus, on December 12.
The event was part of the project “Establishment of crop-based model, IPM villages for promotion of integrated pest management technologies in NEH region of India,” funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)-National Research Centre for Integrated Pest Management (NRIIPM), New Delhi, according to an update.
The project aims to integrate integrated pest management (IPM) technologies tailored to regional cropping systems, emphasising bio-intensive techniques, farmers' participatory approaches, and climate-resilient pest management tools. The project also aims to develop demonstration villages, centred on region-specific crops.

Farmers from the adopted IPM model village, Socunoma, visited the campus. Inputs like potato seed tubers, cauliflower, cabbage, Chinese cabbage, carrots, garden peas, tomatoes and watermelons were distributed to the farmers in the presence of Prof. KK Jha, pro vice-chancellor in charge; Prof. L Daiho, former dean, SAS, NU; and Prof. S Banik, HoD, Department of Plant Pathology, SAS, NU.
Prof. Bireswar Sinha, Dr. Kevineituo Bier, Dr. Waluniba, Dr. Noyingthung Kikon and Dr. Herojit Singh are associated with the project.
