DIMAPUR — The museum of the Geology department, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, received a rare dinosaur fossil and geological specimens donated by Supong Ozukum on Tuesday.
To mark the occasion, a programme was held in the presence of Pro Vice-Chancellor of Nagaland University N Venuh, who expressed appreciation for the generous donation, underscoring the importance of environmental studies in understanding Earth’s evolutionary history.
According to an update, Dean of Sciences Santosh Kumar Singh acknowledged the contribution, highlighting the role of a museum as a reflection of academic identity and pointing out the ongoing work and future goals.
A presentation was made by S K Srivastava, providing insights into dinosaurs, their evolution, and eventual extinction.
Supong Ozukum, an alumnus of the University of Buffalo, New York, gave a brief background of the fossil and his motivation for donating it to the university.
