Nagaland University and Dibrugarh University signed a five-year MoU to promote academic exchanges, joint research, publications, internships, training and capacity building.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland University (NU) and Dibrugarh University, Assam, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on August 20 to strengthen academic, research and institutional cooperation between the two universities.
The MoU was signed at Dibrugarh University and is aimed at creating sustained opportunities for academic interaction, knowledge exchange and collaborative initiatives involving faculty members, researchers and students of both institutions, NU stated in a press release.
Representing Nagaland University at the occasion was Prof. Joy Das, Finance Officer (in-charge).
Dibrugarh University was represented by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Jiten Hazarika, Registrar Dr. Paramananda Sonowal and Head of the Department of Commerce Dr. Bipasha Chetiya, along with faculty members of the department.
Three research scholars from the Department of Commerce, Nagaland University, who were visiting Dibrugarh University to participate in a national seminar, were also present.
Under the MoU, the two universities will collaborate in areas including faculty, researcher and student exchanges, internships and training, joint research and publications, academic courses, conferences and seminars, and capacity-building initiatives.
The agreement will also facilitate the sharing of academic expertise and scholarly resources and promote collaborative activities of mutual interest.
Specific initiatives will be undertaken through mutually agreed project plans or separate implementation agreements, subject to approval by the competent authorities and applicable institutional regulations.

The MoU will remain in force for five years.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen higher education and research in Northeast India by creating greater opportunities for students, researchers and faculty members, while encouraging research on issues of regional and societal relevance.
It is also expected to promote academic integration, knowledge sharing and capacity building across state boundaries.
