ECI Secretary Binod Kumar reviewed the SIR 2026 exercise in Dimapur and stressed accurate mapping, close monitoring, timely completion and coordination among electoral officials.

DIMAPUR — Secretary, Election Commission of India (ECI), Binod Kumar, on Friday stressed the need for close monitoring, accurate mapping and timely completion of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls 2026 in Dimapur district.
Addressing a review meeting held at the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Dimapur, Kumar underscored the importance of Enumeration Forms (EFs) and urged Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to closely monitor the work being undertaken by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) at the field level.
According to a DIPR report, the ECI secretary also interacted with electoral officials and reviewed the challenges being faced during implementation of the SIR exercise.
He called for intensified efforts to improve the mapping percentage and ensure that electoral roll data is accurately updated.
Kumar further advised BLOs to undertake thorough verification and mapping at the grassroots level and maintain close coordination with the concerned electoral officials.
He emphasised the need for timely completion of the mapping exercise and greater coordination among District Election Officers (DEOs), EROs, AEROs and BLOs to achieve the desired progress.
The meeting began with introductory remarks, followed by a PowerPoint presentation by Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Dr. Tinojongshi Chang, on the current status and progress of the SIR exercise in the district.
BLOs from the three Assembly Constituencies (ACs) under Dimapur were identified for the review. From Dimapur-I AC, the BLOs included those attached to Khel Chakesang Colony E/W, Bank Colony and Pranab Vidyapith School Area.
Under Dimapur-II AC, BLOs from Duncan Village “B” N/W, Industrial Village/Razphuphe-1 DC, Zeliangrong “A” and Government Higher Secondary School were listed for the review. From Dimapur-III AC, BLOs from Toulazouma, Toulazouma-I and Longsen were identified.
Following the review meeting, Kumar visited two polling stations under 3-Dimapur-III Assembly Constituency to assess the progress of the SIR exercise and its field-level implementation.
SIR progress reviewed in Chümoukedima
Secretary of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Binod Kumar, reviewed the progress of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls 2026 in Chümoukedima district at a meeting held at the deputy commissioner’s conference hall on August 20.
The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer, Chümoukedima, Polan John, and attended by officials from the Chief Electoral Officer’s Office, Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) of the 4-Ghaspani-I and 5-Ghaspani-II Assembly Constituencies, and other officials.
Kumar urged officials to adhere to the prescribed timeline and complete all SIR-related activities within the stipulated period.
He called for timely solutions to challenges faced by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and stressed the need to ensure that information and awareness reached citizens across the district.
Appreciating the work of BLOs, he urged them to update their findings in the application on time and discharge their duties diligently to ensure that all eligible voters were represented while maintaining the integrity of the electoral roll.
Kumar said the SIR exercise would have a generational impact and called for greater efforts, regular reviews and timely action to address emerging issues.
The deputy commissioner presented the district profile, including details of electors, polling stations, rationalisation of polling stations, and training and awareness programmes conducted for SIR 2026.
Officials and BLOs also apprised Kumar of field-level challenges, following which suggestions and measures were discussed to ensure the smooth implementation of the revision process.
