Nagaland University organises IPM training and distributes agricultural inputs to farmers in Rusoma village, Kohima.

DIMAPUR — The School of Agricultural Sciences, Nagaland University (SAS, NU), Medziphema Campus, organised a training-cum-inputs distribution programme at IPM Model village Rusoma, Kohima district, on December 19.
The programme was held under the project “Establishment of crop-based model, IPM Villages for promotion of integrated pest management technologies in NEH region of India” funded by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-National Research Centre for Integrated Pest Management (ICAR-NRIIPM), New Delhi.
The training on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) on oranges was imparted by Dr. Waluniba, assistant professor, Department of Entomology, SAS, NU. Farmers were provided training on the different insect pests associated with oranges and on identifying and managing them through the IPM approach.
Dr. Kevineituo Bier, assistant professor, Department of Soil Science, SAS, NU, dwelt on the importance of soil management aspects through integrated nutrient management (INM) to increase soil productivity and improve soil health and quality.
Inputs like Knapsack sprayer, yellow stick traps, Neem oil, Trichoderma, biofertilisers, Beauveria bassiana, Phosphate solubilising bacteria, buckets, lime and Copper sulphate (Bordeaux mixture preparation) were distributed to the farmers in the adopted village.
