Nagaland University marked its 32nd foundation day at Medziphema campus with awards for teachers, staff, scholars, and students, highlighting achievements and future goals.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland University celebrated its 32nd foundation day on Saturday at the Medziphema campus. The venue of the Foundation Day is rotated every year so that each campus gets the opportunity of hosting the main programme on its premises.
According to a press release, the chief guest, Prof. Jagadish K Patnaik, vice-chancellor, in his address expressed happiness about the improvement in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) ranking of Nagaland University and stated that his predecessors had done commendable work in bringing the university to this stage.
He emphasised that Nagaland University is at its peak on this foundation day and encouraged the gathering that through excellence, hard work, dedication, and thinking out of the box, the university would reach even greater heights.

As per the tradition started by Patnaik, the Vice-Chancellor’s Award 2025 was presented to the deserving awardees.
Winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Best Teacher campus-wise were:
Dr. G. Bupesh, assistant professor, Dept. of Forestry (Headquarters Lumami)
Dr. Seema Rani Thappa, assistant professor, Dept. of Teacher Education (Kohima Campus)
Dr. Deepa Thangjam, assistant professor, Dept. of Rural Development and Planning (Medziphema Campus)
Winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Best Non-Teaching Staff campus-wise were:
Milto Swu, section officer, Finance (Kohima Campus)
Yangpothung Lotha, transport section (Medziphema Campus)
Winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Best Research Scholar campus-wise were:
Shisak Sharma, Dept. of Chemistry (Headquarters Lumami)
Lochumi Kikon, Dept. of Agricultural Engineering and Technology (Kohima Campus)
Rajan Singh, Dept. of Livestock Production & Management (Medziphema Campus)
Winners of the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Best Student campus-wise were:
Alva Biginde M. Sangma, Dept. of Chemistry (Headquarters Lumami)
Kezevinuo and Thejainuo Thevo, Dept. of Linguistics (Kohima Campus)
Karri Anusha, Dept. of Plant Pathology (Medziphema Campus)
A special award was also presented to Dr. Biplab Pal, assistant professor, Dept. of Physics.
Prof. Dipak Sinha, PVC, NU, Medziphema Campus, and Prof. N Venuh, PVC, NU, Kohima Campus, also spoke on the occasion.
Dr. Abemo, registrar, Nagaland University, in his speech, said that the foundation day was a day of thanksgiving and remembrance of the pioneers, and he requested all to hold a minute of silence as a tribute to former employees of the university who had passed away.
In his speech, he applauded the teaching and non-teaching staff, scholars, and students of Nagaland University and urged all to work hard, make the university reach its best, and fulfil its potential in a befitting manner.
At Headquarters Lumami, the foundation address was delivered by Prof. Mithilesh Kumar Sinha, Dept. of Economics. At Kohima Campus, the Foundation Address was delivered by Prof. Buno Liegise, Dept. of Education.
