Nagaland United Sports Club storm into NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy final

Nagaland United Sports Club defeated Anal Lenruwl Tangpi 4-0 to reach the NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy final at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima.

KOHIMA — Nagaland United Sports Club (NUSC) entered the final of the 25th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy after defeating Anal Lenruwl Tangpi 4-0 in the second semi-final match played on Thursday at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IG) in Kohima.


Sanathoi opened the scoring for NUSC in the 9th minute, followed by Jenish, who netted the second goal in the 30th minute. In the second half, Sanathoi scored his second goal at the 82nd minute, while Joel sealed the victory with the fourth goal at the 90+6 minute.


Arap Konyak of NUSC was named the Player of the Match and received the award from the match patron, Benei M Lamthiu, MLA and general secretary of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA).

Nagaland United SC will play against Chedema Village Youth Organisation in the final on October 18 at IG Stadium, Kohima.


The closing ceremony and the grand finale of the tournament will commence at 4:30 pm on Saturday at the IG Stadium.


The prize money for the winner is INR 5 lakh, while the runners-up will receive INR 3 lakh. The two semi-finalist teams, Sechü Zubza and Anal Lenruwl Tangpi, will receive INR 1 lakh each. Other individual awards will also be presented.
