Nagaland Tribal Hohos Coordination Committee urges the Nagaland government to intensify disaster response, road restoration, and compensation following landslides.
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Tribal Hohos Coordination Committee (NTHCC) has appealed to the state government to intensify disaster response, relief, and restoration measures across the state following widespread natural calamities.
In a press release, the NTHCC expressed profound grief and extended its heartfelt solidarity to the families who have lost their loved ones, as well as to the citizens whose homes, livelihoods, farmlands, and properties have been devastated by unprecedented landslides, flash floods, and other natural calamities affecting various parts of Nagaland.
The committee stated that the magnitude of the ongoing disaster has severely disrupted normal life across the state, cutting off vital road connectivity, isolating villages, damaging public infrastructure, and causing immense hardship to the people.
The NTHCC expressed deep sadness over the tragic landslide incidents in Mon and Mokokchung districts, which claimed several lives, and conveyed its condolences to the bereaved families.

While appreciating the proactive initiatives undertaken by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, the state government, district administrations, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), and all frontline agencies, the NTHCC urged the government to further intensify disaster preparedness, response, relief, and rehabilitation efforts.
The committee urged the government to strengthen and mobilise all concerned departments to ensure coordinated, round-the-clock operations and to expedite the restoration of all major roads, highways, and rural connectivity disrupted by landslides and floods.
It requested the state to ensure adequate ex gratia and compensation to the families of those who tragically lost their lives and to extend appropriate financial assistance to families whose houses, farmlands, livestock, businesses, and other properties have suffered extensive damage.
The NTHCC also urged the government to direct all road construction agencies, contractors, and executing firms entrusted with infrastructure projects to execute their works with greater diligence, professionalism, and accountability, maintaining adequate manpower and machinery to clear landslides and restore connectivity.
Furthermore, it called for swift and transparent damage assessments through district administrations, the deployment of additional machinery and resources in vulnerable districts, and the strengthening of early warning systems and community awareness programmes.
The committee called upon all citizens, tribal hohos, civil society organisations, churches, youth bodies, and community leaders to extend support to affected families and cooperate fully with the government and disaster response agencies.
