The India Meteorological Department forecasts widespread rain and thunderstorms across Nagaland from July 16 to July 22.
DIMAPUR — Nagaland is likely to experience widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms over the next seven days, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain and thundershowers across all districts from July 16 to the 22nd.
According to the IMD's mid-day forecast issued on Thursday, the weather activity is under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts.
This system is expected to bring enhanced rainfall activity with isolated heavy to very heavy falls over east and northeastern India, east Uttar Pradesh, and the western Himalayan region during the next seven days.
Rainfall activity is expected to remain active throughout the state, with conditions ranging from scattered to fairly widespread and widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.

On July 16, fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected over Peren, Kohima, Kiphire, and Tuensang, while Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng, and Mon are likely to receive scattered rain and thunderstorms.
On July 17, rainfall activity is expected to intensify across many parts of Nagaland. Fairly widespread rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast over Peren, Kohima, Phek, Kiphire, and Tuensang, while other districts are expected to witness scattered rainfall and thunderstorms.
The forecast indicates that on July 18 and July 19, the state is likely to experience widespread rain and thunderstorms over Peren, Kohima, Kiphire, and Tuensang, and fairly widespread rainfall and thunderstorms over Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, Longleng, and Mon.
By July 20, rainfall activity is expected to continue, with most districts, including Dimapur, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Mokokchung, and Longleng, likely to experience scattered rain and thunderstorms. The remaining districts are likely to experience fairly widespread rainfall and thunderstorms.
On July 21 and July 22, the state is likely to experience scattered rainfall and thunderstorms.
