Mokokchung DC Ajit Kumar Verma restricts heavy vehicles on the Dikhu River Bailey Bridge on NH 202 due to its dilapidated condition.
MOKOKCHUNG — Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung Ajit Kumar Verma has imposed restrictions on heavy vehicular traffic over the dilapidated Dikhu River Bailey Bridge on National Highway 202 (Mokokchung-Tuensang Road) to ensure public safety.
According to an order, only light motor vehicles (LMVs) and passenger-carrying vehicles will be permitted to cross the bridge until further notice. The decision has been taken in response to the deteriorating condition of the bridge.
All heavy goods vehicles have been advised to use alternative routes until the structure is repaired and certified safe for heavy traffic. The suggested alternative routes are Mokokchung–Longleng–Yongnyah–Alisopur–Trongar–Tuensang; Tuensang–Chare–Mokokchung; and Suruhuto–Akuluto–Lumami–Mokokchung.
However, in cases of emergency or exigency, permission for heavy vehicles to use the bridge may be granted by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung.
Verma has urged all concerned parties to strictly comply with the restrictions for safety reasons.
