The Nagaland Taekwondo team with officials posing with their gold medals at the Seongnam Open International Taekwondo Championships in South Korea.


DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Taekwondo team secured three gold medals at the Seongnam Open International Taekwondo Championships held in South Korea from July 18 to the 20th.


According to a DIPR report, led by Kethosituo Sekhose, Director of Youth Resources and Sports, and accompanied by Pele Khezhie, President of the Nagaland Taekwondo Association, Theja Keretsu, team manager, and Visabiu Peseyie, coach, the team delivered an exceptional performance at the event, which saw athlete participation from 21 countries.


The gold medal winners were P Athongti in the Under 49 kg category, Sentimoa Ozukum in the Under 55 kg category, and Vilabizo Nagi in the Under 68 kg category.

The team expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the Government of Nagaland, under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, and the Department of Youth Resources and Sports, under Advisor S Keoshu Yimkhiung, for the opportunity and support extended to the Nagaland Taekwondo Association and the sporting fraternity as a whole.


The delegation will also meet with sports leaders and representatives from World Taekwondo to explore avenues for future collaboration and the development of the sport in the state.
