Nagaland State AIDS Control Society holds Nagaland Influencers Conclave 2.0

  • DIMAPUR — Nagaland State AIDS Control Society (NSACS) organised the Nagaland Influencers Conclave 2.0 on June 12 at De Oriental Grand in Kohima on the theme "Empower and Engage."

  • An update from NSACS stated that the conclave was aimed at amplifying awareness on HIV/STI prevention, testing, treatment and available support services by leveraging the influential voices of local content creators. The event brought together 32 prominent influencers from across Nagaland, each recognised for their positive public image and commitment to social causes.

  • The programme began with a welcome and keynote address delivered by Dr. Ahu Sekhose, NSACS project director, who emphasised the vital role influencers could play in shaping public discourse and breaking the stigma around HIV, while Metevinuo Sakhrie, NSACS joint director (IEC & MS), underscored the significance of digital platforms in reaching the youth and vulnerable populations with credible and relatable messages.

  • The panel discussions were led by the programme officers namely Dr. M Nukshisangla Jamir, joint director (BSD); Dr. MC Longai Phom, joint director (STI & DAPCU); Dr. Zaiwang Zeliang, joint director (CST); Metevinuo Sakhrie, joint director (IEC & MS), and Dr. Bernice D Thapru, joint director (Prevention).

  • It stated that the panelists shared insights on the current status of HIV interventions in the state and key information related to HIV and STI.

  • Additionally, Yhuni, member of Kohima Network of Positive people (KNP+), also shared her experiences on positive living and community support as one of the panelists.

  • A highlight of the event was the vibrant “Red Ramp” segment, where influencers walked the ramp and voiced powerful one-liners in support of the HIV cause. It stated that each participant used the moment to creatively express solidarity, raise awareness and challenge stigma—turning the runway into a bold statement of advocacy and hope.

  • Another highlight was when the influencers came together to take a united influencers’ pledge, affirming their commitment to use their voices and platforms responsibly.

  • Report stated that the conclave offered a meaningful platform for influencers to gain deeper understanding of HIV-related challenges and identify collaborative pathways with NSACS for future awareness campaigns.

  • It further stated that the Nagaland Influencers Conclave 2.0 marked a significant step towards fostering community engagement through innovative communication strategies, with the ultimate goal of reducing new HIV infections and promoting an inclusive stigma-free society.
