- DIMAPUR — In a
momentous occasion marked by community pride and collective effort, the newly
renovated Sumi Aphuyemi Rest House at Zunheboto district headquarters was
inaugurated on Friday by Dr. Sükhato A Sema, MLA.
- According to a DIPR report, the event was held in the
presence of Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, various officials, and a
host of Sumi stakeholders.

- The inaugural ceremony began with the unveiling of the
commemorative plaque by Dr. Sükhato, the special guest for the event.
- In his address, Dr. Sükhato expressed appreciation for the
unity and commitment demonstrated by all 24 Sumi Aphuyemi villages, whose
contributions through a one-day wage collection made the dream of the rest
house a reality. He also acknowledged the efforts of the “past seven visionary
MLAs who laid the groundwork for today’s achievement.”
- He highlighted a ‘Visionary road map’ for Pughoboto area
with a focus on improving connectivity to the district headquarters.
- The MLA also underscored key developmental priorities
including the medical and education sectors, calling for enhanced collaboration
among Sumi stakeholders and the district administration to leverage various
centrally-sponsored schemes.

- Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj, in his address, commended
Dr. Sükhato’s proactive leadership and emphasised the need for judicious use of
the newly renovated infrastructure. He also appealed to the MLA to ensure that
the concerned departments take responsibility for the building’s ongoing
maintenance.
- Hetoho Zhimomi, president of Sumi Kukami Hoho, praised the
collective mindset of the Sumi Aphuyemi community, calling the initiative an
inspirational example of unity for the district.
- The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Obed
Achumi, BDO of Ghathashi RD Block, followed by a dedicatory prayer and
benediction led by Nitoyi Achumi, Chaplain of District Jail, Zunheboto.
- “The renovated Sumi Aphuyemi Rest House stands as a
testament to community spirit and visionary leadership, promising to serve as a
valuable asset for the people of Zunheboto and beyond,” the report stated.
- The programme was chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner
of Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang.
