DIMAPUR — Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), Sharingain Longkumer, called on Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in New Delhi on October 4.
During the meeting, several important matters pertaining to Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region Zone-III and the North East Regional Parliamentary Studies, Training and Research Centre were discussed, the NLA stated in an update.
Sharingain took the opportunity to apprise Birla of the preparations underway for the forthcoming plenary conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association India Region Zone-III, scheduled to be held in Kohima in the month of November.

The Lok Sabha Speaker expressed his keen desire to visit Nagaland and assured his presence and support for the upcoming conference. He also conveyed his hope that Speakers and legislators from the north-eastern states will make effective use of the platform to deliberate on pertinent policy matters and regional issues that requires examination and review by the Centre.
Birla also congratulated the Nagaland Legislative Assembly for taking the initiative to host the plenary conference after many years and extended his best wishes for the successful conduct of the conference, the update stated.
