  • Over 70,000 farmers across 746 villages mobilised in a week

  • DIMAPUR — Nagaland has set a remarkable pace in the ongoing Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan (VKSA) campaign, emerging as a frontrunner in agricultural technology outreach, team visits, village coverage, and farmer mobilisation.

  • From May 29 to June 5, the state successfully engaged 70,169 farmers across 746 villages, demonstrating an exemplary model of community-led participation under the national vision of Viksit Bharat@2047, the VKSA Nagaland stated in a press release.

  • “This transformative campaign is ‘reaching the unreached’ in the remotest villages, ensuring that ‘no farmer is left behind’.

  • “It has seen the active involvement of farmers, farm women, rural youth, self-help groups (SHGs), and farmer producer organisations (FPOs), highlighting the spirit of inclusivity and collective progress in the state,” the release stated.

  • According to the VKSA Nagaland, the state’s progress is evident, engaging 35,507 male and 30,867 female farmers in awareness activities, farmer-scientist interactions, distribution of informative materials, and Q&A sessions.

  • The farmers’ participation remained high throughout the week, with over 10,000 farmers joining on June 3 and the 4th, underscoring the success of field-level planning and community mobilisation.

  • Additionally, three MLAs, MP, and Deputy Commissioners of every district, ICAR Director and Joint Director and, Dean of CAU and SAS also took part in the campaign, enhancing its visibility and support from state policymakers, administrators and technocrats.

  • It went on to state that Nagaland, known for its rich biodiversity and traditional farming system, holds immense potential for integrating improved agricultural technologies with indigenous knowledge systems.

  • The VKSA campaign leveraged this “unique strength” to promote sustainable agriculture, enhance food and income security, and move toward self-reliance of the state in the agriculture and allied sectors.

  • “Community participation is the cornerstone of the campaign’s success. The people of Nagaland—farmers, youth, women, and rural institutions like village councils—have shown commendable ownership of this mission, turning the campaign into a grassroots movement,” the release stated.

  • It further asserted that the VKSA campaign is not just a mobilisation drive but a visionary step toward transforming Indian agriculture. By focusing on innovation, inclusivity, and sustainability, the campaign aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and contributes meaningfully to India's dream of becoming a five-trillion-dollar economy in the near future, it stated.

As the campaign continues until 12th June, many more milestones are yet to be witnessed, promising even greater achievements in the days ahead.
