Nagaland Police officer arrested after allegedly threatening delivery worker with firearm during COD dispute; investigation underway and CCTV retrieved
DIMAPUR — A Nagaland Police officer was arrested after allegedly threatening a delivery worker with a firearm during a dispute over a cash-on-delivery (COD) parcel at Naga United village near Hope Academy School on July 31.
A complaint was lodged at Diphupar Police Station the same day, following which the accused, identified as Blesto Zhimo, was taken into police custody. Police have also retrieved CCTV footage related to the incident.
The complainant, a field executive with Delhivery Ltd. posted at its dispatch centre in Naga United village, said the incident occurred at around 1.10 pm while he was delivering a COD package worth about INR 600.
According to the complaint, the recipient collected the parcel and attempted to open it before making payment. The delivery worker said he informed the recipient that company policy prohibits customers from opening COD packages before payment and requested him not to tamper with the parcel.

The recipient allegedly opened the package, claimed the item was not what he had ordered and refused to accept or pay for it. As the package had already been opened, the delivery worker said he advised the recipient to complete the payment and initiate a return through the company's prescribed procedure.
The complainant alleged that when he informed the recipient he would contact his manager, the latter became aggressive, pulled out a pistol and attempted to assault him. The situation was reportedly defused after the accused's driver intervened.
Speaking to reporters outside Diphupar Police Station, the victim said he had no intention of withdrawing the complaint and was determined to pursue the case through the legal process.
Expressing support for the complainant, Western Chakhesang Youth Front president Wekupe Therie condemned the alleged incident, saying it was unacceptable for an off-duty police officer to allegedly use a firearm to intimidate a member of the public.
Therie urged civil society organisations to speak out against such acts and said the organisation would stand by the victim in his pursuit of justice, adding that the law should be allowed to take its course.
