DIMAPUR — Nagaland Police has refuted allegations of delays in pension settlement levelled by a former employee during a televised interview aired on June 24.

The Police Headquarters (PHQ) issued a clarification on Wednesday, describing the claims made by retired Inspector Longshithung Lotha (NPTO) as “totally baseless.”

“This office would like to state and clarify to the public that the accusations are totally baseless, as his pension process was completed and finalised when his pension order was collected at PHQ on 08/08/2022. His GPF and Leave Encashment were deposited into his account on 03/10/2022 and 28/03/2022, respectively; thus, he had received all his pension benefits by October 2022,” the statement read.

It further informed that his arrears of DCRG (Death-cum-Retirement Gratuity) and less drawn leave encashment were already forwarded to the Accountant General (AG) Nagaland on 26/07/2023 and 10/10/2023, respectively.

Regarding specific allegations made against Head Constable I. Mhonthung of the Intelligence Branch, the PHQ stated that the matter is being looked into.

It also clarified that Mhonthung, who was earlier posted at AG Nagaland, has been serving at PHQ since April 15, 2023.
