DIMAPUR — The department of Power has announced a phased power shutdown across several districts under Mokokchung Transmission Division from April 20 to May 16 to facilitate vegetation clearance along key transmission lines.
In a press release, the executive engineer of Mokokchung Transmission Division informed that the exercise will cover 132kV and 66kV transmission corridors.
Power supply will remain suspended daily from 8 am to 4 pm during the scheduled dates.
The department stated that the vegetation clearance is essential to ensure stable and uninterrupted power supply by preventing faults caused by overgrown trees and branches along transmission lines.
As per the schedule, areas under Tuensang will be affected from April 20 to the 25th, with supply routed through an alternate line.
Zunheboto district will face outages from April 27 to May 2.
From May 4 to the 9th, power supply will be disrupted across Changtongya, Tuli, Longleng and Mon districts, while Longnak and Mangkolemba sub-divisions will be affected from May 11 to the 16th.
