Nagaland Pencak Silat players Kevin and Avikali V Sheqi qualify for the Asian Senior Pencak Silat Championship 2026 in Vietnam.

DIMAPUR — Nagaland Pencak Silat athletes Kevin and Avikali V Sheqi have qualified to represent India at the Asian Senior Pencak Silat Championship 2026, to be held in Dong Nai Province, Vietnam, from July 15 to the 23rd.
The duo secured their qualification during the National Open Selection Trials held in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, from May 16 to the 19th.
According to an update, competing in the Tanding (Sparring) category of their respective weight divisions, the athletes secured victories to earn their spots in the continental championship.
In addition to their qualification, Kevin, Avikali V Sheqi, and Chithuviyo Kaiho successfully completed the Indian National Referee, Jury and Coaches Training Course 2026, conducted under the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) and organised by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation.

The training course was led by international technical expert Titih Hayati of Indonesia. The programme focused on international officiating standards, advanced coaching methodologies, judging systems, discipline, professionalism, and technical excellence within the sport.
The Nagaland Pencak Silat Association expressed appreciation for the achievements of the athletes, stating that their success on both competitive and technical platforms showcases the state's potential in the international martial arts arena.
The association extended its congratulations and best wishes to the athletes as they prepare for the upcoming event in Vietnam.
