- DIMAPUR — The
National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) under the Directorate
of Health and Family Welfare, in collaboration with Kohima district, on Friday
observed the National Dengue Day 2025 at the conference hall of the chief
medical officer (CMO) in Kohima on the theme “Check, clean, cover: steps to
defeat dengue.”
- An update from the Health department stated that the
programme was observed to intensify preventive activities ahead of the monsoon
on vector control with active community participation and inter-sectoral
coordination throughout the transmission season (pre-monsoon to post-monsoon).
- Speaking at the programme, Dr. Neisakho Kere, joint director
and SPO (NVBDCP), shared the present scenario of dengue in Nagaland, 2023
dengue outbreak and actions taken to curb the same.

- Activities undertaken included fogging in the affected
colonies after due verification on presence of vectors and their density,
clearance of vegetation around the houses, advocacy on personal protection such
as use of mosquito net, screening of doors and windows, use of mosquito
repellent and use of long lasting insecticide net (LLIN).
- Other activities included creation of dengue ward to avoid
transmission, intensive IEC/ BCC through TV, radio, newspapers, social media
and print media for dengue control and preventions.
