DIMAPUR — The road stretch along NH-29 at Chathe and Tsiedukhru (Pagalapahar), which was closed due to mudslides and landslides on September 14, has been partially reopened for traffic, according to an advisory from the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur.

Light motor vehicles (LMVs) are allowed to move in a single lane with restricted regulation from September 15. Movement of heavy motor vehicles (HMVs) with up to six wheels will be permitted along the stretch from 8 am on September 16.

Authorities cautioned that in case of heavy rainfall, the highway may be closed again for safety reasons without prior notice.

Travellers have also been advised to avoid non-essential halts or stoppages along the affected stretch, especially during rain. Meanwhile, the bypass route between New Chümoukedima and Old Chümoukedima will remain open for traffic movement in a staggered manner.

The partial reopening follows recommendations from the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (NHIDCL), which is carrying out restoration work on the damaged stretch, the advisory stated.
