DIMAPUR — The Kohima district administration has announced the temporary closure of a section of National Highway-2 (NH-2) near Chiechama on July 26 to facilitate road restoration work.
According to an order issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, the road stretch at “Chainage No. 33+300 km of the National Highway-2, (Kohima to Botsa section), near the Seven Sisters Hotel, Chiechama”, will remain closed from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on Sunday, in the interest of public safety and smooth restoration works.
The movement of heavy vehicles will remain suspended during the closure period.

Meanwhile, the administration has notified alternative routes for commuters, stating that Light Motor Vehicles (LMVs) bound for Tseminyu/ Wokha from Kohima can take diversion at Chiechama (KM 33+115) and proceed towards Botsa, before rejoining the NH-2 at Botsa.
It added that LMVs bound for Kohima from Wokha/ Tseminyu can take diversion at Botsa (KM 37+100), proceed via Teichuma–Zhadima, and rejoin the NH-2 at KM 16+150.
The general public has been requested to extend cooperation.
