  • NPCC welcomes former BJP leaders

  • DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) welcomed Vitoka Tsuqu, former vice president of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency unit, and Hovili Aye, former president of the Mahila Morcha of the 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency unit, into the Congress party fold. According to an update, the new entrants were received on Monday by a group of Congress workers, including S Supongmeren Jamir, Lok Sabha MP and NPCC president; NPCC working presidents Khriedi Theunou and Apok Jamir; the working president of the Kohima District Congress Committee; and the president of the 9th Kohima Town Assembly Constituency Congress Committee. The NPCC expressed confidence that Tsuqu and Aye, with their grassroots experience and dedication, would strengthen the party's efforts towards inclusive development and social justice in Nagaland.

  • Modern College Kohima to hold IGNOU induction

  • DIMAPUR — The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) SC-2001 Modern College Kohima Induction Programme is scheduled for May 16 at 3 pm in the college auditorium, opposite the SBI Lerie branch, Kohima. According to an update, fresh learners enrolled for the January 2025 session are to attend the Induction Programme.   • GPRN/NSCN (Kitovi) retrieves vehicle

  • DIMAPUR — Kitovi-led GPRN/NSCN informed the retrieval of a mortgaged vehicle, a white Toyota Innova bearing chassis number MBJAB3EM4025207920418. The concerned person is notified to ensure that all appropriate arrangements and actions are undertaken to facilitate the claim. Further, the concerned person is directed to claim the vehicle within one week. Failure to report within the stipulated time will result in permissible proceedings against the vehicle/owner by the GPRN/NSCN authority.

  • GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) clarifies

  • DIMAPUR — The GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) clarified that SS Pogkhu is its president and not that of the NNC (Parent Body), as submitted under a forged signature by some “criminal-minded individuals” to tarnish the good image of the government. Further, the GPRN/NNC (Apex Body) warned that such imposters will be dealt with firmly and without any excuse.   • NSCN/GPRN-R discharges Major Ato Chophi

  • DIMAPUR — Akato-led NSCN/GPRN-R discharged Major Ato Chophi, son of Kughaho Chophi of Hoito Village, on medical grounds. The discharge was signed and dated by the GSO-1 (Admin) of the Naga Army, Brig. Jack Chophi. In a statement, the NSCN acknowledged the voluntary service and contributions rendered by the discharged official towards the national cause. While wishing a speedy recovery, the NSCN also extended good wishes to their former comrade in his future endeavours.

  • Workshop on parenting skills held at Kuda village

  • DIMAPUR — The department of Psychology and Wellbeing from Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, Meghalaya, organised a one-day workshop titled "Empowering Parents: A Workshop on Parenting Skills" on May 8 at Nepali Baptist Church, Kuda village, Dimapur. According to an update, the workshop covered key topics such as the importance of the parent-child relationship and skills to enhance it, parenting attitudes and their effects, and strategies to discover a child's potential. The workshop was organised as part of the department's continuous formative evaluation, aimed at promoting awareness and equipping parents with essential skills and strategies for nurturing their children.


  • Churches urged to pray for Naga political situation

  • DIMAPUR — The Naga political groups and the Naga tribal hohos held a meeting on May 5 and 6 at Pruzie, Kohima. According to an update from Forum for Naga Reconciliation, they resolved to request the churches in Naga areas, through the respective apex church associations/councils, to pray on Sunday, May 18, for a list of prayer points, which included unity, healing, and divine intervention in the ongoing Naga political situation
