Nagaland observes State Mourning
DIMAPUR — Nagaland joined the rest of the country in observing a one-day State Mourning on Monday, in line with the Government of India's decision, as a mark of respect following the passing of His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Father Amir of the State of Qatar, on July 12. During the period of mourning, the national flag was flown at half-mast on all buildings throughout the State where it is flown regularly. There was also no official entertainment on the day, a DIPR report stated.
ANGSU demands justice for minor
The All Nagaland Gorkha Students' Union (ANGSU) has strongly condemned the alleged sexual assault of a minor Gorkha student, reportedly committed by Pauminlun Gante of Ward No. 9, Medziphema, on July 7. In a statement, ANGSU described the allegation as deeply disturbing and called for a prompt, impartial and thorough investigation. The union urged the authorities to prosecute the accused under the POCSO Act and other applicable laws if the allegations are established through due legal process. The union also stressed the need to ensure the victim's privacy, dignity and well-being by providing appropriate medical care, psychological counselling and legal assistance throughout the investigation and trial. Appealing to the public to stand united against crimes against children, the union said justice must be ensured. It also appreciated Abou-u Kuotsu, GB of Ward No. 9, Medziphema, for his prompt intervention in assisting with the filing of an FIR and initiating action against the accused.
Phek, Meluri to hold GHH camp
KOHIMA — The District Civil Supply Office (DCSO), Phek, has informed that a two-day special enrolment camp for the General Household Scheme (GHH) will be conducted at the district office and sub-divisional towns under Phek and Meluri districts on July 16 and the 17th. According to the office, members of the public wishing to avail the opportunity have been requested to approach the district office and department officials in the respective sub-divisions with the necessary documents to apply for the GHH scheme. The office also informed that the camp will provide an opportunity for existing ration card holders who are not eligible to hold Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) scheme ration cards, as per the office order dated June 19, 2026, to surrender their original ration cards and avail the GHH scheme. The sub-inspectors of Supply, storekeepers and PDC in-charges under Phek and Meluri districts have been directed to submit action taken report details for the camp by July 18.

Government Assurances panel meet
DIMAPUR — The chairperson of Committee on Government Assurances, Y Lima Onen Chang, MLA, has convened an oral evidence meeting of the committee with the departmental representatives of Transport, Home Works & Housing (R&B) departments on July 22 at 11:30 am at the C Chongshen Committee Room, Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA). In a press release, the NLA Secretariat requested members of the committee on Government Assurances to make it convenient to attend the meeting.
Mon DPDB meeting on July 16
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner & Vice Chairman of District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) Mon, Wennyei Konyak, has informed all the DPDB members of Mon district that the monthly DPDB meeting for the month of July 2026 will be held on July 16 at 11:30 am in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner, Mon. According to an official bulletin, all the concerned members have been informed to attend the meeting without fail.
Free crochet training in Noklak
DIMAPUR — The Sankalp-District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Noklak, under Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP), will organise a skill development programme on crochet, tentatively on July 20 and the 21st. According to a DIPR report, interested persons may collect the application form from the Sankalp-District Hub for Empowerment of Women (DHEW), Noklak. Registration will remain open from July 13 to the 17th. Preference will be given to those who have not availed skill development training organised under BBBP in previous years.
NNC CEC meeting on July 28
DIMAPUR — The Naga National Council (NNC) has informed that there will be a meeting of the Central Executive Council (CEC) of the NNC at Chedema Peace Camp, Kohima, on July 28 at 10 am. The meeting will discuss on important issues pertaining to CEC, NNC resolutions and the scenario of present Naga Nation, an update stated. The organisation has requested all CEC members and all regional presidents to attend the meeting without fail. No separate information will be served, it stated.
Longleng DWSM review meeting held
DIMAPUR —A review meeting on the implementation of water supply and sanitation programmes was held under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner & Chairman, District Water and Sanitation Mission (DWSM), Longleng, W Manpai Phom, at the DC’s office chamber on Monday. According to a DIPR report, the meeting reviewed the progress of ongoing programmes and discussed measures to ensure their effective and sustainable implementation across the district. Representatives from various departments participated in the meeting and shared updates and suggestions for improved coordination. In his concluding remarks, the deputy commissioner expressed gratitude to all departmental representatives for their active participation and urged them to maintain close coordination for the successful implementation of water supply and sanitation initiatives throughout the district.
