Nino Iralu takes oath as Lokayukta
DIMAPUR — Nino Iralu was on Monday sworn in as the new Lokayukta of Nagaland at a programme held at the conference hall, Nagaland Civil Secretariat, Kohima. According to a DIPR report, Iralu succeeds Banuo Z Jamir, former chief secretary, who completed her five-year term. Chief Secretary Dr. J Alam administered the ‘oath of office’ and Home Commissioner Anoop Khinchi initiated the official proceedings. Among those present during the occasion included senior officials, officers and staffs of Lokayukta, well wishers and family members.
NBSE informs on CM scholarship
DIMAPUR — The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has informed that the felicitation programme for the meritorious students of HSLC Examinations 2025 batch, who are eligible for the Chief Minister’s Meritorious Scholarship Fellowship (CMMSF), will be held on June 18 at State Banquet Hall, Chief Minister’s Residential Complex, Kohima at 11 am. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will attend the occasion and do the honours, a DIPR report stated. Students have been requested to come to the function in the present school/institution uniform along with one parent and be seated at the venue by 10 am positively.

DoTE counselling for direct admission
DIMAPUR — The Department of Technical Education (DoTE) has informed qualified candidates that the department will be conducting counselling for direct admission to degree or lateral entry to the private Institutions/universities in engineering courses, architecture and B-Pharm on June 25 at 10 am onwards at the Government Polytechnic, Kohima. Interested candidates have been invited to the counselling with all necessary academic documents. The empanelled engineering colleges and universities with DTE Nagaland will conduct counselling for their respective institutes/universities, an official bulletin stated.
KANU cautions Naga landowners
DIMAPUR — The Karbi Aglong Naga Union (KANU) has advised all Nagas and the general public intending to buy land in Karbi Anglong, Assam, to refrain from dealing with groups or individuals without proper verification and authentication from KANU and Gaonburahs (GBs). In a press release, the union cautioned that it will not hesitate to initiate strict action against any Naga member found colluding with land mafias to illegally occupy or sell legitimate Naga land. It also directed all Naga landowners to construct house at the earliest in order to avoid complications. “Failure to comply with these directives, the KANU will not be held responsible in the event of any consequences in the near future,” it added.

Atoizu NCP unit merges with NDPP
DIAMPUR — The 32 A/C Atoizu unit of the NCP unanimously decided to leave the party and join the NDPP en masse, following a May 30 meeting. The unit stated that the decision was made due to irreconcilable ideological differences, as their values and goals aligned more closely with the NDPP under the leadership of Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and NDPP President Chingwang Konyak. “With this merger, we reiterate our commitment to strengthen the People's Democratic Alliance (PDA) government in the state and look forward to bring about positive change and progress for the people of Nagaland,” the unit stated in an update.
