ANTA Peren condemns firing incident
DIMAPUR — The All Nagaland Taxi Association (ANTA) Peren Unit has expressed shock and outrage over an alleged unprovoked firing incident by an unknown miscreant on a civilian vehicle at Pimla village on June 5. Standing in solidarity with the occupants of the vehicle and their family members, the association requested the law-enforcing authorities to immediately launch a thorough investigation to identify, apprehend, and book the perpetrator under the severest provisions of the law. In a condemnation note, the unit also requested the concerned authorities to immediately deploy a police patrolling unit to provide a security presence around Pimla village and other vulnerable locations along the road to protect travellers.
NagaEd and NEPED sign MoU
NagaEd and the Nagaland Empowerment of People Through Economic Development (NEPED) have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to advance digital education, clean energy, and capacity building in Nagaland. According to an update, the agreement was signed in Kohima on Wednesday, establishing a framework for collaboration across digital education, renewable energy market development, research, capacity building, and community knowledge systems.
Pfutsero to host awareness programme on pollution control
An awareness-cum-interactive programme on pollution control will be held in Pfutsero in collaboration with the Nagaland Pollution Control Board on June 17. ADC and Executive Officer of the Pfutsero Town Council, Mhalo Humtsoe, informed that the event will take place at 1 pm at the Town Hall, Ketoupa, focusing on the new Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules 2026. In this connection, all heads of departments, town councillors, ward chairmen, GBs, heads of educational institutions accompanied by five students each, TPMA, PTBA, PTYO, and PTCSU have been requested to participate in the programme.

FGN Council of Kilonsers, Tatars Hoho impeach leaders
The Council of Kilonsers and Tatars Hoho of the Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has decided to impeach Tokuho Swu (Kedaghe), Langshe (Commander in Cheif), and Kihovi Awomi (Finance Kilonser) from their respective positions due to violations of the Yehzabo and their offices. According to a public notice issued by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the decision was taken during an emergency meeting. Following the impeachment, the council and Tatars Hoho elected Senlo Khing Rengma as Kedaghe (President), Akaho Zhimo as Commander-in-Chief, and Tovito Kiba as Finance Kilonser.
Dr. M Chuba Ao participates in campaign in Meerut
Dr. M Chuba Ao, founder and Chairman of Mount Mary College, Chairman of MARCOFED Nagaland, and National Vice President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), participated in the nationwide "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign during his recent visit to Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, on the occasion of World Environment Day. As part of the programme, Dr. Ao joined officials and community members in a plantation drive at the Meerut Cantonment Board. He also travelled on the Namo Bharat Rapid Rail, where he appreciated India's modern transportation infrastructure and digital payment systems as steps towards sustainable development.
Kiphire DC announces vehicular restrictions
Deputy Commissioner of Kiphire Temsuwati Longkumer has informed that vehicular movement along a stretch of the Kohima-Jessami Road will remain restricted from June 10 to the 14th. According to a DIPR report, the restriction will be in place daily from 6 am to 6 pm due to ongoing excavation works from Chainage 101+060 to Chainage 101+161 (Losatephe and Lanehzo village) under Package V of the Kohima-Jessami Road. The measure has been taken as a precaution for public safety. Commuters are advised to utilise the alternate route via Pfutsero - Porba - Sakraba - Khomi - Phek village - Lanezho and vice versa.
USSC president calls on Kiphire administration
The President of the United Sangtam Students' Conference (USSC) paid a courtesy visit to the district administration of Kiphire to advocate for joint efforts toward the upliftment of the education sector within the district. During the meeting, the USSC president appealed to the district administration for collaborative efforts to improve educational standards across the Kiphire district, according to an update. Highlighting critical infrastructure gaps, the president raised concerns regarding the non-functional status of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) and the polytechnic institute, urging the administration to find ways and solutions to make them operational. Additionally, the USSC President called for the expedited construction of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) and the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) in Kiphire to ensure students can benefit from these institutions without further delay.
