Traffic advisory issued for Kohima rally on June 19
DIMAPUR — The Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has issued a traffic advisory in view of a rally organised by the Tribal Women Bodies of Kohima on June 19, concerning the ongoing IDAN sexual harassment case. According to the advisory, the gathering will take place at Old MLA Hostel (Phoolbari) Junction from 10 am to 12 noon, followed by a procession to Lok Bhavan. The district administration has cautioned that significant traffic congestion and diversions are expected across Kohima town during the event. The public has been advised to avoid non-essential travel within the town during the specified period. Commuters who must travel are urged to avoid the procession route leading to Lok Bhavan and use alternate roads wherever possible. The DC appealed to citizens to cooperate with the district authorities to ensure public safety and smooth traffic management.
Drug awareness run on June 26
Nagaland Police is organising a 5 km awareness run on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26. The event aims to create public awareness against drug abuse, encourage healthy lifestyles, and promote a collective commitment towards building a drug-free Nagaland, stated a press release issued by Nagaland Police. The run will commence at High School Junction, Kohima, from 6 am and culminate at Police Headquarters (PHQ). Around 500–700 participants are expected to take part. Prizes will be awarded to men open, women open, under-15 (boys/girls) and 50 years. Registration will start at 5.30 am on June 26. Social audit training concludes
Two-day training and orientation programme on the social audit of VB-G RAM-G for social audit resource persons at the district and block levels of the Nagaland State Social Audit Agency (NSSAA) was held on June 16 and the 17th at the SIRD Conference Hall, Kohima. The programme was spearheaded by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) and the National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRDPR), Hyderabad. According to an update, the training aimed to build the capacity of social audit resource persons as the social audit process transitions from MGNREGA to VB-G RAM-G. Sessions focused on the VB-G RAM-G framework, social audit methodology, transparency, and community oversight under the new programme. Altogether, 49 participants from across the districts attended. Resource persons included Dr. Srinivas Sajja of NIRDPR; Leeom Watlong Yanlem, Menote-u Sarah and Munuho Lohe from DRD Nagaland; and Imlirenla Sanglir, Sezolu Swuro and Vezokholu Khusoh from NSSAA SAU Nagaland.
