Kohima launches electoral helpdesk
DIMAPUR — Deputy Commissioner & District Election Officer, Kohima, B Henok Buchem, has issued a notification informing that, in compliance with the Election Commission of India’s direction, a district-level helpdesk has been established to facilitate easy access to electoral services and to ensure the inclusion of all eligible citizens, particularly persons with disabilities (PwDs), migrants and elderly electors during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise. As per the notification, Shurhotuonuo, LDA-cum-computer assistant, District Election Office, Kohima, has been designated as the official for the helpdesk. She can be contacted at 8794607805. Electors may also avail assistance through the Election Commission helpline number 1950.
Rio to inaugurate multipurpose building
The Kohima Village Council (KVC) has informed that the inauguration of the Kohima Village Multipurpose Building will be held on June 26 at 2 pm at Ziekezou, Kohima village. In an update, the KNC stated that the programme will be attended by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio as the chief guest. The council extended an invitation to all citizens, village elders, community organisations, and well-wishers to attend the event and be part of the significant occasion. Further, guests have been requested to be seated by 1:50 pm.
Mokokchung ICIT gets new name
The Department of Higher & Technical Education has notified that the Institute of Communication & Information Technology (ICIT), Mokokchung has been renamed as Government Polytechnic, Mokokchung with immediate effect. According to the notification, the renaming has been carried out in pursuance of the State Cabinet's decision, as conveyed through a letter issued by the Cabinet Secretariat (Cabinet Cell) on June 15, 2026. The notification stated that the change in nomenclature shall apply to all official purposes and administrative matters from the date of issuance of the notification. The department has directed all concerned departments and establishments to take necessary action to implement the change accordingly, a DIPR report stated.

MP Jamir to chair Phek DISHA meet
Lok Sabha MP and Chairperson of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA), S Supongmeren Jamir, will chair the DISHA meeting for Phek district at the deputy commissioner's conference hall on June 24 at 11 am. According to a notification issued by Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Nguori, the meeting will review the implementation of various centrally sponsored programmes and schemes being executed by different ministries in the district. All concerned departments and implementing officers have been directed to attend the meeting with detailed implementation reports on the schemes under their respective ministries. Following the meeting, a tree plantation drive will be conducted in the presence of MP Jamir as part of the day's programme.
DPC condoles demise of V Tsükrü
The Dimapur Press Club (DPC) has condoled the the passing of Vihutuo Tsükrü, brother of Atono Tsükrü Kense, a member and former general secretary of the Kohima Press Club. According to a condolence message issued by the club, Vihutuo Tsükrü passed away on June 22 at Oking Hospital, Kohima. The DPC conveyed its heartfelt condolences to Atono Tsükrü Kense and the entire bereaved family during this difficult time. The club prayed that the family would find strength and comfort in the cherished memories they shared with the departed and that Vihutuo's soul would rest in eternal peace.
CVU announces new office bearers
The Chakhesang Vero Union (CVU) has announced its office bearers for the tenure 2026-2028. The team will be led by Vethi Vero as chairman. Other office bearers include Vedekho Vero (vice chairman), Peter Vero (general secretary), Kasahi Vero (joint secretary), Tavezo Vero (finance secretary), Zapove Vero (treasurer), and Chizokho Vero (information & publicity secretary).
