ENSF to observe black day at Kisama Heritage Village
DIMAPUR — The Eastern Naga Students' Federation (ENSF) will be observing black day on December 4 and the 5th at Konyak Morung, Kisama Heritage Village, Kohima, in remembrance of 15 brothers murdered at Oting village and Mon town, respectively. In a meeting circular, the ENSF invited all the sub-units of ENSF from Kohima for a coordination meeting on December 2 at ENSF sub-office, DUDA Guest House.
Mock drill exercise conducted in Mon
DIMAPUR — The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) along withDistrict Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Mon, conducted earthquake mock drill exercise on November 29 at the DC office complex, Mon. According to a DIPR report, a mock drill was conducted to simulate a disaster scenario involving a fire incident and collapse structure. The exercise demonstrated rescue operations for individuals trapped inside the office building and evacuation of injured persons. The mock drill was carried out by a team of 12 NDRF personnel from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, in collaboration with DDMA, Home Guard, Civil Defence, Fire & Emergency Service, Medical department, and SDRF Mon. The district administration, police, and other stakeholders also participated in the exercise, which aimed to test the preparedness and response mechanisms in place.
KDYC pledges loyalty to party leaders
DIMAPUR — The Kiphire District Youth Congress (KDYC), in its meeting held on November 27, resolved to stand under the leadership of S Supongmeren Jamir, president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), and K Tsalimong, president of Kiphire District Congress Committee (KDCC). The meeting resolved to work tirelessly at the grassroots level to establish the Congress party as a people's mandate political party in the region, the KDYC stated in a press release. The KDYC office bearers are Obed T Rezipi (president), C Liseba, I Atsangba and Tsuymki (vice presidents), Thsaropi Sangtam (gen. secy. Admn.), Pongkyu Tikhir, Ariba T Sangtam and Setongkyu (secretaries), Yangeseba T Sangtam (media cell convenor), Tsarose Michael (media cell co-convenor).
Tobacco control meeting held in Phek
DIMAPUR — The District Level Co-ordination Committee (DLCC) for Tobacco Control Programme, Phek, held its quarterly review meeting at the DC's conference hall, on November 27, under the chairmanship of DC Phek Rhosietho Nguori. The meeting focused on implementing the Tobacco Free Educational Institutions (ToFEI) guidelines to create a tobacco-free environment in educational institutions, a DIPR report stated. Rentsamo Kikon, District Education Officer, Phek, Dr. Pfukrolo, District Nodal Officer for Tobacco Control Cell, and other committee members discussed strategies to curb tobacco use and sale in schools and colleges.
Health camp held at Nokyan village
DIMAPUR — A health camp, Ayushman Arogya Shivar, was organised at Nokyan village, Noklak district, on November 28, attracting 120 participants across all age groups — from a 9-month-old baby to a 103-year-old elder. The event began with a prayer by the women pastor of Nokyan Village Baptist Church, followed by a warm welcome address by the village council chairman, a DIPR report stated. Dr. Meyachungla Jamir, Medical Officer, highlighted the benefits of medicines and their role in promoting overall wellness. The camp also featured yoga sessions, encouraging attendees to adopt simple techniques for physical well-being. The inclusive event brought the community together, inspiring individuals to prioritise their health and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
