Rajesh Kumar Sethi meets Mani Shankar Aiyar


DIMAPUR — Rajesh Kumar Sethi, Congress leader from Nagaland and National Coordinator of the AICC Minority Department (in charge of Manipur), met senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar in New Delhi and discussed contemporary political issues, particularly the BJP’s celebration of the “GST Utsav”. According to an update, Aiyar recalled that the Goods and Services Tax was originally a Congress initiative which the BJP had once opposed, while Sethi criticised the ruling party for appropriating Congress’ vision and termed the celebration political hypocrisy.  Sethi said that the corrections made by the GST Council vindicated the Congress’ earlier stance and reinforced that the Congress’ economic vision remains unmatched.


IGNOU organises Swachcha Hi Seva campaign


DIMAPUR — The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Regional Centre, Kohima, organised the Swachcha Hi Seva campaign and Swachcha Pakhwada activities from September 16. As part of the programme, a cleaning drive was carried out at its premises and in the adopted village Phesama on September 24. The Regional Centre stated that it actively participated in highlighting the significance of the Swachhata mission and spreading awareness in society. Officials from the Regional Centre, along with staff and students of Government Primary School, Tekhuba (New Reserve), Phesama, took part in the cleanliness drive. The centre also distributed dustbins and brooms to the school and emphasised sanitation, health, and hygiene.

NSCN (Angmai) discharges cadre


DIMAPUR — Angmai-led NSCN (K) has discharged its cadre Khukugha T Zhimo of Zungti village under the Sumi region from active military service on health grounds with immediate effect. The NSCN (K) has expressed gratitude for his dedicated service to the nation and extended best wishes in his future endeavours.


Election Commission designates RO and ARO


DIMAPUR — In exercise of the powers conferred under sub-rules 3 and 4 of Rule 20 of the Nagaland Municipal Election Rules, 2023, the State Election Commission has designated the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Pfutsero, Mhalo Humtsoe, as returning officer (RO) and the Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) of Pfutsero as assistant returning officer (ARO) for the conduct of a fresh election to Ward No. 11 of Pfutsero Town Council under Phek district.
